What are the default Preferences in my library account, and how do I change them?

In your Library account, you may edit your preferred name, email address, PIN, and phone number for text notifications, as well as choose your default settings:

  1. Log in to your account from www.fvrl.org or the catalog.

     OR

     
  2. Enter your library card number and PIN.

     
  3. From the Personal Information tab in My Account, click on Preferences and choose from the options in the drop-down menus.

     
  4. There are five items listed in the Preferences area.  The first is Default My Account Tab.  Click the little triangle to choose which tab will display when you first open My Account:  Personal Information, Checkouts, Holds, Bills, or Requests.  Then click Update to save changes.

     
  5. Use the Default Checkouts View and Default Holds View menus to choose whether you want your physical library items or your digital library items to be featured.  Whichever you select, you will still be able to see the others on your Checkouts and Holds tabs.  (Note:  Only digital items checked out or placed on hold through the catalog will display.  Those checked out or held directly via OverDrive or RBdigital will not appear in the lists.)  Update to save changes.

     
  6. You may choose a default/Preferred List from among the ones you have created in your account.  However, we recommend having no default list to make it simpler to add a title to the correct list.
  7. Use the drop-down menu to choose your Preferred Pickup Library.  This will make placing holds go more quickly.  You may always select a different pickup location for any given hold if you wish.  Click Update to save changes.
