The Libby app stopped playing my audiobook (or pages are missing from my ebook), but it's not at the end, and my checkout period isn't over yet. Help!
Sometimes a download isn't complete or gets interrupted, causing parts of a book to be missing. Often the problem can be cleared up by deleting and re-downloading. To delete a downloaded title in the Libby app, you tell it you want to stream the book instead. This will erase the downloaded copy so you can prompt Libby to download the book again. (Libby automatically downloads checked out titles over wifi, but it can also stream content over a cellular connection.)
Here are the steps:
- Make sure your device is connected to the Internet via wifi, then open the Libby app and tap Shelf.
- Find the book you want to delete and re-download. To the left of it, you will see a red circle indicating Libby has attempted to completely download the book. Tap the circle to bring up two options: "downloaded" and "stream when online."
- Tap "stream when online." Libby will tell you that this will wipe your download, and ask you to verify that you want to do so. Tap "Yes, wipe download." This will not return your book; it will still be checked out to you.
- The red circle will be replaced with a gray circle with a cloud inside. Tap the cloud, then tap "download."
