How will I be notified when my digital hold (eBook or eAudiobook) is available?

You will receive eBook and audiobook hold notices by email from OverDrive or RBdigital.

  • Available eBooks and audiobooks are automatically checked out to you unless you already have seven items checked out.
  • If you already have seven items checked out when an OverDrive hold becomes available:
    • you will have four days to return a checked out item. After that, the hold will go to the next person on the wait list.
    • the hold will not check out to you automatically. You will need to go to your holds shelf and click or tap the "borrow" button.
  • If you already have seven items checked out when an RBdigital hold becomes available:
    • The next person on the hold list will get the book, but you will remain at the top of the hold queue.  When you return an item, the next available copy of the book will check out to you automatically.
  • Note:  Digital materials cannot be overdue, so there is no need for overdue notices.  At the end of a borrowing period, you will lose access to the book.  The RBdigital app will move the book to your History and delete the downloaded copy, the OverDrive app will also move the book to your History but leave behind a cover image you can save or delete, while the Libby app removes the book from your Loans Shelf and lists the expiration in your Activity tab.  In all cases you must check the book out again to keep reading.
