How long do I have to borrow an available hold?

When a hold on a physical item becomes available, you have 10 calendar days to pick it up before it is put back in the system and either sent to the next person in the hold list or reshelved on the regular shelves. If you cannot get to the library to pick up a hold within those 10 days, you may wish to ask a trusted friend or family member to do it for you (with either your card or your card number and PIN).

A hold on an OverDrive title may be automatically checked out to your account. If you opt out of this, you have 72 hours from when it becomes available to borrow the title.

RBdigital (formerly OneClickdigital) titles are automatically checked out to you when they become available. If you already have seven active checkouts when your hold becomes available, you remain at the top of the hold list, but the book goes to the next person in line. The next time it becomes available, it will be checked out to you unless you again have seven active checkouts. This process will repeat until you have space available for auto-checkout (i.e. fewer than seven items already checked out).
